About Lin Weber
I have always liked to draw, but it wasn’t until 2008 that I ventured into painting, and when I did a whole new world opened up for me: the world of color. I love color. I love subtle grades of color, rich swaths of color, lines of color thin as seersucker or thick as boards. I love how color changes in the light and in the company of other colors; and how it can capture mood and motion.
The Napa Valley, where I live, is alive with color year ‘round, and I enjoy showing it in its various seasonal costumes.
The Napa Valley is all about food and wine, and trips to the local Farmer’s Market (as well as into my backyard garden) have provided me with many subjects for my oils. Lately I’ve been painting collections of pears, apples, peppers, squash, tomatoes, onions and eggs as they appear in the growers’ displays.
I also enjoy painting dogs and vehicles—especially dogs in vehicles, where we often see them—perhaps because they’re not only colorful, but full of fun.
Some of my paintings are on display at the Napa Valley Coffee Roasting Company in St Helena and at the Christopher Hill Gallery, also in St Helena, as well as in various locations around town and in Napa. If you’d like to purchase something you see on exhibit or find something you like as you scroll through this website, please e-mail me at lin@linweber.com. I am also available to do paintings on commission.
I’m calling this website “Lin Weber: Napa Valley in 2 Dimensions” not only because my art is two dimensional, but also because I have written extensively about this area’s history. Books I have published on the subject include Old Napa Valley: The History to 1900; Roots of the Present: Napa Valley 1900-1950; Under the Vine and the Fig Tree: The Jews of the Napa Valley; Napa; Napa Valley Wine Country; Queen of the Valley 50 Years; and a novel, The Wine Cellar.
